Liens are a commonly used, yet commonly misunderstood, aspect of construction claims. They are a tool for unpaid parties to utilize, but the steps required to register a lien and ultimately to obtain payment are more complicated than many realize.
The Society of Construction Law North America is pleased to host a panel outlining the basics of liens that both lawyers and non-lawyers need to understand. The panel will outline the life cycle of a lien, from registration to enforcement. This presentation will provide practical tips to avoid making costly errors prejudicing a party’s rights.
